Who we are
About Texas Group Health Plans
An independent, statewide Texas brokerage built around one job: shop the market and set up the right group health plan for your business, at no cost to you.
An independent Texas brokerage, not a single carrier's sales team
Texas Group Health Plans is an independent group health insurance brokerage serving employers across the state of Texas, from Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth to Austin, San Antonio, El Paso, and the towns between. We are not owned by, or tied to, any one insurance carrier. That matters because it changes whose side we are on. An agent who works for one company can only show you that company's plans. We shop the whole Texas market and bring back the options that fit your business, whichever carrier they come from.
We place both small group coverage, for employers with two to fifty workers, and large group coverage, for employers with fifty or more. Group size changes the plan design, the funding options, and the compliance details that apply, so we handle both ends of that range rather than pointing larger employers somewhere else.
How an independent broker works
When a Texas employer decides to offer, or re-shop, group health coverage, there are two ways to go about it. The first is calling carriers one at a time and comparing whatever each sales rep sends back. The second is working with a broker who already knows the Texas market and does that comparison for you, across every carrier at once. We handle the paperwork, the plan setup, and the renewal review each year, so your business is not starting from zero every time a decision needs to be made.
A broker costs your business nothing.
Insurance carriers pay brokers directly, built into the cost of the plan you would already be paying for. Your premium is the same whether you buy straight from a carrier or work with us. There is no added fee, no markup, and no reason to shop the Texas market alone. Get a free quote and rate review and see what that looks like for your business.
What we help Texas employers with
Most of what we do falls into a short list of jobs employers need done well and rarely have time for themselves:
- Setting up new group coverage for a business offering benefits for the first time, through small business health insurance for teams of two to fifty
- Placing and managing coverage for bigger employers through large group health insurance, including plan design and compliance details
- Walking through the differences between group health plan types, such as PPO, HMO, and high-deductible plans paired with an HSA
- Breaking down what group health insurance costs in Texas and where employers have room to control that number
If you are not sure which of those fits your business, that is a normal place to start. Send us your details and we will point you the right direction before anything else happens.
What to expect once you work with us
The work does not stop once a plan is chosen. After your business is set up on a plan, we stay on the account through the year, not just at the point of sale. That means helping with enrollment questions when a new hire joins, walking through a claim that got denied and does not make sense, and checking the market again well before your renewal date so a rate increase never shows up as a surprise.
We also help employers think through the practical side of offering coverage: how to split the cost between the business and the employee, whether a high-deductible plan paired with an HSA fits the team better than a traditional PPO, and what the small business tax credit can mean for a business that qualifies. None of that changes what you pay for the coverage itself. It is part of the same service.
Who is behind Texas Group Health Plans
Texas Group Health Plans is run day to day by a licensed Texas insurance broker who works group health accounts full time, rather than splitting attention across life, auto, and property lines. That focus means the person reviewing your renewal has seen the same carriers, the same plan documents, and the same rate patterns across many other Texas employers, and applies that when it is your business on the table.
Serving employers across the state
We do not work out of a single office serving a single city. Texas Group Health Plans places coverage for employers throughout Texas, and the process is the same no matter where your business is located: send your details, we shop the market, you get a straight comparison.
